Insulator boards are made from glass-reinforced composite. This material puts off dust when machined with traditional tooling such as end mills or routers that are unpleasant. The small particles of dust can settle into your lungs and cause exposed skin to prick and itch for hours. At SMS we machine this product in the waterjet where we create virtually zero dust. Our process makes machining insulator boards safer and cleaner.
