Waterjet Cutting
Waterjet Cutting is the action of precision cutting material with high-pressure water and abrasive with little waste of the material.
What materials can we cut with a waterjet?
Virtually any material can be cut in a waterjet, with the exception of tempered glass. Due to the way tempered glass is manufactured, it fractures along the cut.
Some examples of materials that are effectively and efficiently cut using a waterjet:
- Annealed Glass
- Granite
- Aluminum
- Steel
- Stainless Steel
- Copper
- Titanium
- Inconel
- Invar
- Hastelloy
- Foam
- Ceramic Tile
- Plastic
- Rubber
What is the benefit of waterjet cutting?
Unlike lasers that create immense amounts of heat, a waterjet can cut even very thick material without changing the molecular structure of the material, because we’re not introducing heat to it. For the same reason, it does not create an over-burn that has to be removed in a secondary operation.
Waterjet Cutting is a very precise, accurate cut with clean lines and a narrow kerf of around .030″-.055″. This allows us to nest parts close together to maximize yield and minimize waste.
Our process not only brings you machine parts with less waste of material, but we bring you quality parts, at a fair price, with fast service.
